 As we all can see, summers are longer and hotter than they were years before and water is often lacking. Gardening in this situation may seem a rather difficult work Yet. there are places in the world where extreme heat and lack of water are normal conditions but they are rich in colours and fragrances.  The green world has unexpected resources and a great adaptability. Countless and fascinating are the strategies adopted by plants. There are leaves which turn into needles to reduce surface evaporation, which wear a delicate silver down to reflect the light and retain moisture ,which become hard and leathery to limit the transpiration. This small garden nursery started from our passion for flowers and from the necessity to use plants that could stand drought: artemisia, phlomis, lavender, salvia, cistus...  We have started to look for these plants and we have gathered a little collection we hope to expand. If you will come and see us you might like to visit the garden where we test our plants and you can check for yourself which variety of colours, shapes and fragrances is possible to have in every season of the year, without having to resort to expensive and complicated irrigation systems. |
