La Valletta Vivaio Giardino

Lavandula

Lavandula perhaps one of the most evocative among the Mediterranean plants is often confined to secondary roles in the garden. Yet lavandulas are beautiful even in winter, when they form thick mounds emanating intense fragrances when they are touched.
Lavenders
There are many lavandulas, besides 30 species, not counting hybrids and cultivars.
There are dark violet, mauve or pink or white flowering lavandulas. Some of them are very small and are suitable for the fore-ground or the rock garden and can be grown in pots. Some others are very tall ,they can be used in the background, in herbaceous borders and can provide colour and shape contrasts. Besides having fragrant flowers and a beautiful silvery grey foliage they have great ease of cultivation and a great adaptability.
Full sun and a well-drained soil will give us healthy and vigorous plants.
