La Valletta Vivaio Giardino

Salvias

There are over 900 species of salvias; herbaceous, evergreen perennials and shrubs, with heights ranging from a few centimetres to over two metres.
They are little known and little used but absolutely essential if we want a blooming garden in every season and indeed one of their peculiarities is their long autumn blooming.
Salvias are beautiful in large or little groups and provide the garden with colours and scents. The unusual shapes of the leaves, which are often more fragrant than the same flowers, make them interesting in every time of the year and few other types of plants have such lightness and elegance.
Salvias are easy to grow and prefer a rich well –drained soil. Frequent pruning is advisable to enrich and strengthen the bush.
